The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is all set to be launched at the Auto Expo 2018. Recently, it was seen during its television commercial shoot. 2017 Geneva International Motor Show was the first time this car was showcased. Overall structure of the new Swift is lighter and harder than the previous models made possible by the highly rigid frame reducing the reinforcements and is based on Heartect platform introduced for the first time by Suzuki.
Talking about looks, a new bumper, grille design and intricately designed sweptback headlamps along with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are some major changes made, however the side profile looks similar to the current version. Like the Vitara Brezza, it gets a floating roof touch. The back is gifted with a new bumper, tail lamp, LED-touch and a sturdy look, all placed at the perfect place along with a stop light.
International market brings two engine options of this Maruti Suzuki Swift. 1.0-liter BoosterJet engine as well as 1.2-liter DualJet engine. Also available is a mild-hybrid 1.3-liter Diesel engine, which can get the SHVS providing high fuel economy.
With the launch of Dzire, Maruti Suzuki though has proved that small cars do not need the SHVS engine for better fuel economy. The Dzire offers a stunning mileage of 28.4 Km/L whereas 1.3L version of Swift will have mileage no less than 28 Km/L.
If the interiors are concerned, 2018 Swift comes with a new flat-bottom steering wheel along with a twin-pod instrument cluster. Like other high-end Maruti Suzuki cars, this model too gets a touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In India, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to priced at Rs 4.78–Rs 8 Lakh. Considering the price segment, the new Swift will directly be compared with Hyundai Grand i10, Tata Tigor and Nissan Micra.
